    Comforter sets, coverlets and bedspreads

Ready-made bed sets: Hotel Living three-piece lightweight comforter sets, Ramesses and J Elliot Home comforter sets, coverlet sets from Jenny Mclean, Bianca and Vintage Design Homewares, Bianca bedspread sets and a faux silk embroidered coverlet, in sizes from single to super king. Big Sleep eight-piece bed-in-a-bag sets come with a quilt, quilt cover, fitted sheet, four standard pillowcases and a filled cushion. Sheet sets are listed on the sheets and sheet sets page.

    Comforter, coverlet or quilt

A comforter is filled and is meant to be used as the top layer on its own, so it comes patterned and does not take a cover. A coverlet is thin and decorative - it goes over the quilt and is turned down or removed at night. A quilt insert is neither: it is a plain filled doona that needs a cover. Buying a comforter expecting to put a quilt cover on it is the usual mix-up, and a set sold as queen/king is cut to fit either.

If you would rather have a cover and a separate quilt, the quilt cover sets are listed by bed size — single and king single quilt covers, or double quilt covers.
