    View as

Bath salts in three kinds: Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) in 1Kg bags, magnesium chloride flakes in a 400g bag, and pink Himalayan bath salt crystals in 500g and 1Kg packs. The brands are Orku and Shoppers Home.

How to choose a bath salt

For Epsom salt. Three 1Kg Epsom salt listings are on the page: Orku, Shoppers Home and a USP pharmaceutical grade one. The pharmaceutical grade listing names magnesium sulphate heptahydrate, USP 38 testing and a particle size of 0.2-3mm. The listings name baths, gardening and household cleaning as uses, and the bag is resealable.

For magnesium chloride. The 400g flakes are listed as a salt from evaporated Dead Sea saltwater, in a resealable bag.

For Himalayan salt. The 500g and 1Kg packs are listed as 100% Himalayan rock salt in coarse crystals. Their instructions say to add one cup to bath water at 37°C. The listings note that the colour may vary because the salt is natural.

Five of the six listings carry their own disclaimer, and the two Himalayan salt listings also carry a health advisory, so read the listing before use.
