    How to choose a pool pump

    Match the pump to the water volume of your pool, then think about what else it will run. The 330 GPH pump suits pools of 1,100 to 8,300 litres. The 530 and 800 GPH pumps are both rated for 1,100 to 17,400 litres. A surface skimmer or a manual vacuum kit from our pool cleaners needs a pump rated 2,006 litres an hour or more, so choose the 530 or 800 GPH pump if you plan to add either one.

    Frequently asked questions

    What size pool pump do I need?

    Check your pool's water capacity, which is on its product page, against the pool volume each pump is rated for. A pump whose range includes your pool should suit it, and the larger flow rates suit a pool that also runs a skimmer or manual vacuum.

    What does GPH mean?

    GPH is gallons per hour. The number in each pump's name is its flow rate at the pool system in gallons an hour, and its own flow rate is quoted in litres an hour: 330 GPH is 1,249 litres an hour, 530 GPH is 2,006 and 800 GPH is 3,028.

    How does a cartridge filter pump work?

    The pump draws pool water through a filter cartridge and returns it filtered, and an air purge valve releases trapped air.

    Do I need a pump for a small paddling pool?

    These pumps are rated for pools of 1,100 litres or more, so look at the water capacity of the above ground pool you plan to keep filled before choosing one.

    Can I use one of these pumps for a pond or fountain?

    Do the pool pumps come with a filter cartridge?

    Yes. Each pump comes with a filter cartridge and adaptors for the pool valves: a Type I (58093) cartridge with the 330 GPH pump, a 10.6cm x 20.3cm cartridge with the 530 GPH pump and a Type II (58094) cartridge with the 800 GPH pump.

    How much power does a pool pump use?

    The listings give 16W for the 330 GPH pump, 29W for the 530 GPH pump and 32W for the 800 GPH pump, each rated 220-240V.
