Dog Carriers & Crates

Choose a dog carrier by how the dog will travel and how large it is. A soft folding carrier suits car trips and vet visits, a hard carrier is a plastic box with a metal door, a pushchair carries a large dog on wheels, and the steel cage on wheels is a large enclosure with bolt locks. The soft carriers here are four i.Pet sizes from 60 x 42 x 42cm to 90 x 61 x 65cm, listed for dogs and cats. Measure your pet first: the listings do not give a weight limit for the soft carriers, so the dimensions are what you have to go on.

How to choose a dog carrier or travel crate

Soft carriers. The four i.Pet carriers are made from 600D oxford cloth with mesh sidewalls, a removable mat and cover, and three of the four list water-resistant fabric. The 60 x 42 x 42cm and 82 x 58 x 58cm sizes list two zippered doors, and the 70 x 52 x 50cm and 90 x 61 x 65cm sizes list three entrances. All four list a foldable design, and the listings say assembly is required.

Hard carrier. The portable pet travel carrier is plastic with a metal door and ventilated sides, and measures 59 x 36 x 35 cm. Its listing says it suits cats, small dogs, rabbits and similar sized pets.

Pushchair and cage. The XL pet pushchair is listed for large to extra-large breeds, with front and back doors, a foldable frame and wheels. The 46 XXL dog cage is made from 20-gauge steel with 5cm diameter steel tubes, double bolt locks, a double door and four 360-degree casters with lockable wheels.
