How to choose an above ground pool

Start with who will use it and where it will sit. The 122cm square steel frame pool is 30.5cm deep, and the 152cm round steel frame pool is 38cm deep. Inflation is not required for the 183cm and 244cm Undersea fill-and-fun pools. The 262 x 175cm inflatable lists extra-wide sidewalls to lean against. The 200 x 146cm rectangular pool is listed as big enough for a parent to get in with the children. Measure the flat space first and leave room around the pool wall. Set the pool on level ground with a ground cloth underneath, because a pool on a slope puts all its weight on one wall. Is there an above ground pool big enough for adults?

These are paddling and family pools, and none is built for swimming laps. The 213 x 206cm inflatable has two cushioned seats with headrests and two cup holders, so an adult can sit in it with the children.

What is the difference between a steel frame, rigid and inflatable pool?

A steel frame pool has a rust-resistant frame that holds the walls up and comes apart or packs down for storage. The rigid fill-and-fun pools need no inflating: you unfold one, fill it with water and the sidewall rises as it fills. The Dinosaur pool is rigid-walled but has an inflatable base ring that does need air. Inflation is required for the 200 x 146cm, 262 x 175cm and 213 x 206cm inflatable pools and the canopy pool.

Do I need a fence or council approval for an inflatable pool?

Possibly. Since 1 December 2019 in Victoria, a residential pool or spa that holds water 30cm deep or more must be registered with the local council and surrounded by a compliant safety barrier, inspected every four years, and that includes inflatable pools. Other states and councils have their own rules, so check with your local council before you fill the pool.

Do I need a pump for an above ground pool?

A pool that is emptied after each use does not need one. A pool that stays filled needs filtering to keep the water clear. None is a permanent pool. The frame of the 152cm round steel frame pool comes apart for off-season storage, and the 122cm square steel frame pool packs down out of season. The canopy pool deflates and folds away for storage.

How deep are these pools?

Apart from the canopy pool, listed at 114cm high, the listed heights run from 30.5cm for the square steel frame pool to 69cm for the 213 x 206cm pool with seats. None is a deep swimming pool.
