A cover is the cheapest thing you can buy for a pool and the one that saves the most. It cuts evaporation, which is where most of your water and chemicals go, keeps leaves out so the filter works less, and a solar cover lifts the water temperature by several degrees, which usually adds a few weeks to each end of the swimming season.

Buy to the pool's stated size, not the cover's: a cover for a 3.05m pool measures about 2.89m across, because it sits inside the wall rather than over it. A roller makes the difference between a cover that gets used daily and one that ends up folded behind the shed.
