Microfibre quilts from Luxor, Bianca, Giselle Bedding, Ramesses and Fibresmart, plus a Shoppers Home 400GSM quilt and the Luxury Hotel Quilt Core. Weights run from 200GSM to 800GSM where the listing states one, and sizes from single to super king. The Luxor quilts are listed as Australian made, and the Bianca quilts have a cotton cover with satin piping.

Choosing a weight

200GSM. The Giselle Bedding bamboo microfibre quilt is a lightweight black quilt with a bamboo and microfibre blend filling, a microfibre cover and baffle box construction, in double and super king. It is listed as machine washable.

250GSM. The Fibresmart quilt is a white 100% microfibre polyester doona insert in single, king single, double, queen and king, sold as one quilt or a carton of five in the same size.

300GSM. The Bianca Relax Right Summer quilt has a 300 thread count cotton japara cover with diamond quilting, in single, double, queen, king and super king.

400GSM. The Luxor All Season quilt is made in Australia, in single, king single, double, queen, king and super king, and is machine washable. Giselle Bedding has two 400GSM quilts with a microfibre cover and baffle box stitching: an all season quilt with a hollow fibre filling in double, queen, king and super king, and a bamboo blend quilt filled with 50% bamboo fibre and 50% hollow fibre in queen, king and super king, which comes with a storage bag. The Shoppers Home 400GSM microfibre quilt has a microfibre casing and box quilting, in single, king single and king.

550GSM. The Bianca Relax Right Winter quilt has a cotton japara cover with diamond quilting. The Bianca Pure Microfibre All Seasons quilt is two quilts in one, a 200gsm layer and a 350gsm layer that clip together into 550gsm for winter and unclip for warmer months, with square quilting. Both come in single, double, queen, king and super king.

700GSM. The Giselle Bedding bamboo blend quilt also comes in 700GSM, in queen and king.

800GSM. The Luxor Ultra Warm Winter quilt is made in Australia, in single, king single, double, queen and king. The Giselle Bedding bamboo blend quilt comes in 800GSM in queen and king, and the Ramesses All Season quilt is 800GSM with a 100% microfibre polyester cover, a 10% bamboo and 90% polyester fill and box stitching, in queen, king and super king.

Weight not stated. The Luxury Hotel Quilt Core is a white quilt filled with microfibre down alternative, with box stitching and a choice of brushed or cotton outer fabric: brushed in single, king single, double, queen and king, and cotton in single, double and queen. It is listed as machine washable.

Is there a microfibre quilt for summer?

The lightest listed weight is the Giselle Bedding 200GSM bamboo microfibre quilt, then the Fibresmart quilt at 250GSM and the Bianca 300GSM Relax Right Summer quilt. The Bianca all seasons quilt also unclips into its 200gsm and 350gsm layers for warmer months.

Are any of these quilts made in Australia?

Yes. The Luxor 400GSM All Season and 800GSM Ultra Warm Winter quilts are listed as Australian made.

What is the cover made of?

Bianca uses a cotton japara cover on its summer and winter quilts, 300 thread count on the 300GSM one, and plain cotton on the all seasons quilt. The Fibresmart quilt is 100% microfibre polyester. The Luxor listings name a premium microfibre filling and do not state a cover fabric. Giselle Bedding, Ramesses and the Shoppers Home quilt use a microfibre cover, and the Luxury Hotel Quilt Core comes with a brushed or cotton outer fabric.

Can I wash a microfibre quilt?

The Luxor, Bianca and Ramesses quilts, the Giselle Bedding 200GSM quilt and the Luxury Hotel Quilt Core are listed as machine washable; several Bianca listings and the Shoppers Home quilt say to see the label before first use. The Fibresmart listing and the other Giselle Bedding listings do not give washing instructions.

What sizes do they come in?

Single to super king, depending on the quilt. A king is 240 or 245 x 210 cm depending on the brand, and a super king is 270 x 240 cm.
